Johanna Martzy, die letzte und keineswegs unbedeutendste Vertreterin der modernen ungarischen Violinschule, hat relativ wenige kommerzielle Aufnahmen hinterlassen. Aber die vorhandenen stammen sämtlich aus ihrer Blütezeit und die meisten erreichten einen legendären, sogar Kultstatus nach Martzys kurzer Karriere. Diese hier, von der Deutschen Grammophon herausgebracht, mit Sonaten von Beethoven (Op. 30-3) und Mozart (KV 376), gespielt gemeinsam mit Jean Antonietti, bildet da keine Ausnahme; Martzy liebte sowohl Beethoven als auch Mozart, und bei Auftritten spielte sie häufig Sonaten von beiden Komponisten. Sie und Antonietti spielen diese beiden Sonaten wunderschön, ihre Interpretationen sind ausgewogen, transparent und im besten Sinne des Wortes, einfach.
Mono-Aufnahme
The last and by no means least of the modern Hungarian school of violin playing, Johanna Martzy made relatively few commercial recordings. But all of them were made in her prime, and most of them acquired a legendary, and 'cult' status after her short career. This Deutsche Grammophon - Beethoven (op.30-3) and Mozart (K 376) Sonatas with Jean Antonietti – is no exception; she was devoted to Beethoven and Mozart, and her recitals often included the Sonatas by two composers. Martzy and Antonietti played two sonatas beautifully, their interpretations are well balanced, transparent and, in the best sense of the word, simple.
