Fourniers besondere lyrische Art passt sehr gut zu diesen Sonaten, er klingt besonders vorteilhaft auf den tiefen Saiten ... und der Cellist gibt goldschimmernde Klänge von sich. Er nimmt den langsamen Satz viel schneller als seine Rivalen, spielt aber den lyrischeren Triosatz mit einer Süße, die völlig entwaffnend ist. Seine Interpretation des Finales dieser Sonate (Nr. 1) ist ohne Frage die beste. Grammophon
Der Cellist Pierre Fournier (1906-1986) entwickelte einen sanfteren, eleganteren Stil, der für mehr als 40 Jahre zu seinem bezaubernden Markenzeichen wurde. Fournier’s particular brand of lyricism suits these sonatas very well, and he sounds especially fine on the lower strings ... and Fournier makes golden sounds. He takes the slow movement much faster than his rivals, but sings the more lyrical trio section with a sweetness that is wholly disarming. His performance of the finale of this sonata (No. 1) is without question the best. Gramophone
