Condition : gatefold sleeve is laminated on the outer sides. It shows some slight creases and little ring wear, includes the original inner sleeve, NEAR MINT / vinyl has some hairlines which affect moderately listening with a few minor clicks, EX+

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : ambientazione Parigina anche se interamente girato negli studi di Hollywood e soprattutto un film tratto dall'omonimo musical francese del 1956 con le musiche di Marguerite Monnot. Niente di più facile sarebbe perciò stato l'utilizzare musiche a base di "accordeon", "valses musettes" e "complaintes des amoureux" magari sotto la scalinata di Montmartre. Previn è un grandissimo musicista e non si lascia sedurre da queste convenienze. Con grande intelligenza inserisce il bellissimo tema della Monnot "Our Language of Love" ricco di tutte quelle esclusive sensazioni romantiche della vita parigina, alternandolo a melodie dolci ed allegre con una loro forte personalità senza fare l'occhiolino al richiamo delle "sirene" Francesi. Vincerà il premio Oscar 1964 per la miglior colonna sonora.

Notes : Parisian setting even if entirely filmed in the studios of Hollywood and above all, a film adapted from the 1956 French musical with music by Marguerite Monnot. Nothing could be therefore easier than to use music based on accordion, musette waltzes and ballads for lovers perhaps under the staircase of Montmartre. Previn is a great musician and is not attracted by these facilitations. With great intelligence he includes the Monnot's stunning theme "Our Language of Love" full of all those unique romantic sensations of Parisian life, alternating it to sweet and cheerful melodies with their own strong personality without to wink at the recall of French 'sirens'. Previn will win the Academy Award in 1964 for best soundtrack.
