ANDREW BOWN: Tarot (1970 UK Parlophone PROMO R5856)
All collectors of UK Psych/Prog will know what this is. The impossibly rare theme tune to the 1970 ITV series Tarot: Ace Of Wands that just also happens to be one of the most brilliant wild and spacey 45s of the period. Original copies of this so rarely ever turn up and promo copies FAR less so. Well here for auction is such a rarity.
The vinyl I would judge as true VG+ which means there are visible hairlines and minor scuffs but nothing damaging or deep and that might repeat as a scratch or hinder the performance. The sound is excellent throughout even during the acoustic sections. The B Side - 'Lulli Rides Again' - appears VG but again there is little evidence of this upon listening. It is, of course, an absolute orgy of magnificent mellotron excess. Proper swirling prog.
The Parlophone label is clear unfaded and crisp bearing the large white A on the classic apple green EMI promo background. There is no sticker damage rips or writing. The accompanying sleeve is similarly impressive.
This is a genuinely rare opportunity to own one of the acknowledged cornerstones of prog/psych. On top of everything else it is SUCH a great tune. Great TV show too! Good luck!
