Description

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER & TIM RICE-JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR 1970 1ST PRESSING VG+/VGThis is The 1st UK release of Jesus Christ Superstar Recorded At Olympic Sound Studios, Barnes, Advision Studios, Island Studios And Spot Productions Studios On 16-Track Tape.
This is the rare, earliest first pressing, of which only a few hundred copies were made. It has the unique fold-out star cover and the late-sixties style MCA labels with the orange/yellow swirl design.
The album's official release date was 16th October 1970 by which time MCA had introduced the new 'bow-tie' label design.
Later pressings followed with different label.
The booklet is slightly different from later copies - it is printed on shiny paper and has rounded corners.
Sleeve printed and made in England by E. J. Day.
Inner sleeve: Blue Decca poly-lined inners. The date codes on these sleeves are 6/70 and 7/70 which precedes the official release date by several months.
Booklet: This is the original first press booklet which has much shinier paper than later issues and rounded corners. *taken from Discogs🎵 About My Vinyl Shop
Welcome! I’ve been buying and selling vinyl for many years, with 100% positive feedback on both eBay and Vinted.

I take pride in offering quality records that are accurately described, carefully cleaned, and safely packed — so you can buy with complete confidence.

💿 Cleaning & Preparation
Every record I sell is professionally cleaned before listing — either:

by hand, using high-quality cleaning fluid and microfiber cloths, or

in my HumminGuru ultrasonic cleaning system for a deep, thorough clean.
I handle all records with care and store them upright in a smoke-free, temperature-controlled environment.

Grading & Play Testing
Records are graded visually under strong, angled light following the Record Collector / Goldmine standard (see grading scale below).

If a record shows visible marks, scuffs, or anything that might affect sound, I will partially or fully play-test it to confirm condition.
Unless otherwise noted in the listing, records are visually graded only.

Playback quality may vary slightly depending on your turntable setup and stylus condition.

Grading Scale (Record Collector / Goldmine Standard)
Mint (M)  Perfect, possibly unplayed. Rarely used except for sealed items.

Near Mint (NM)  Nearly perfect, with no obvious signs of use. Playback is flawless.

Excellent (EX)  Light marks visible under strong light but plays beautifully. Minimal sleeve wear.

Very Good Plus (VG+)  Light surface marks or faint background noise in quiet spots, but plays well overall. Sleeve shows light wear or creasing.

Very Good (VG)  Noticeable surface marks and light crackle, but plays through without skipping. Sleeve may have splits, ring wear, or writing.

Good (G) / Fair (F)  Heavier wear and surface noise; sleeve heavily worn or torn. Priced accordingly, ideal for collectors or display.Packaging & Shipping
All records are shipped in sturdy mailers with protective stiffeners and outer sleeves where appropriate.

I always pack securely to prevent seam splits or corner damage in transit.
