ITEM: RARE, FIRST PRESSING. Self-Titled " Count Basie ", by Count Basie, with original ANDY WARHOL COVER . Produced by RCA Victor Records, catalog number LPM-1112, Collectors Issue with Enhanced Sound Mono. Matrix Stamper Numbers: F2-PP-1749 1S; and F2-PP-1750 1S.
COMMENTS / CONDITION: This LP came from a private collection - it is not a beat up item bought at a yard sale. The record was visually graded, and was test played.
Grading is according to Goldmine Standards. If you are not familiar with that system, please go to the Goldmine web site and read the grading details BEFORE YOU BID.
Vinyl is in a strong VG+ to VG++ Condition with a nice gloss. There are no warps, deep scratches, cracks, or chips. On close inspection under a bright light source, a few wispy scuffs and hairlines can be seen, which are cosmetic only and do not affect the playback or listening enjoyment of the music. On my older system, both sides played quietly with an occasional soft tick. There were no pops, background noise, skips, or groove lock. NOTE: Sound quality will vary from system to system. The above comments are included strictly as reference, and are not a statement as to the experience you may have with your equipment.
Both deep groove labels are in excellent, clean condition with no spindle tracks, peeling edges, rips, or writing. The center hole is perfectly round and shows no signs of abusive playing.
The inner sleeve is original rice paper sleeve.
I have not tried to clean the vinyl or the labels. Serious collectors usually have their own preferred methods they use to care for their records.
Cover is in strong VG condition, with no cut-out drill holes, notches, or clipped corners. There are no stickers, labels, or price tags. The original pricing information is written on the back cover on the top left corner. The top seam has a 4 inch split starting at the opening edge, and the bottom seam has a 2 inch center split. Light scuffing and edge wear is visible. Noticeable ring wear and rub wear/soiling from handling and storage is present, mostly on the back cover. Photos and graphics are crisp and sharp. The spine is firm and easily readable.
Do not sleep on this one. First Pressings of this album seldom appear on eBay.
