Description
UK FIRST PRESSING ORANGE CBS LABEL VINYL LP.
STAMPERS: S-64612 - A1 [MOTHERS 1 / 2] / S-64612 - B1 [MOTHERS A / 1]
SLEEVE: VERY GOOD, JUST LIGHT SHELF, RING AND EDGE WEAR. PRICE STICKER MARK TOP RIGHT FRONT
DISC: NEAR MINT, A LOVELY COPY, CLEAN, SHINY VINYL, JUST A FEW VERY LIGHT HAIRLINES THAT ARE NOT SCRATCHES. THE RECORD PLAYS AND SOUNDS GREAT - THERE IS JUST ONE BARELY DISCERNABLE SMEAR IN THE VERY LAST SECONDS OF THE LAST TRACK SIDE TWO - IT PLAYS FINE. BOTH LABELS ARE ULTRA CLEAN, NO SPINDLE WEAR.
NO SELF-RESPECTING FOLK COLLECTION CAN EXIST WITHOUT BRIGGS' FIRST TWO ALBUMS AND HER TOPIC E.P.s, ALL OF WHICH HAVE BEEN REISSUED IN RECENT TIMES ON CD AND VINYL - BUT BELIEVE US, NONE OF THEM SOUND REMOTELY RIGHT, THEY ARE NOT FROM THE CORRECT FIRST GENERATION MASTER TAPES (WHICH THIS LP IS) AND THEY ARE OVERLY COMPRESSED (THE CD LOUDNESS WARS HAVE POLLUTED EVERYTHING IT SEEMS...) THEY ARE ALSO SOMEWHAT SHRILL/HARSH SOUNDING, BRIGGS' MUSIC IS SPACIOUS AND DELICATE AND REQUIRES WARMTH AND AND OPEN SOUND ENVELOPE TO CAPTURE THE DYNAMICS - THIS ALBUM IS HOW HER MUSIC IS MEANT TO BE HEARD. AVOID AT ALL COSTS THE 180G REISSUED LPS, THEY ONLY MAKE THE TRUE AUDIOPHILE AND LISTENER AWARE OF HOW COMPLETELY CLUELESS THE MASTERING AND CUTTING OF MODERN LP PRESSINGS ARE, THEY'RE BASICALLY CDS BUNGED ONTO VINYL. THE CUTTING IS TRULY AWFUL (GONE THE DAYS OF GEORGE PECKHAM, GEORGE PIROS, THE ALCHEMISTS AND MASTERMINDS IN WHITE COATS AT EMI AND DECCA, BERNIE GRUNDMAN, MASTERDISK, ETC.) -WHO THE HELL WANTS TO HEAR AN LP RECORDED AND ORIGINALLY CUT IN THE GREAT ANALOGUE ERA ON VINYL MASTERED AND CUT FROM CD DIGITAL SOURCES? IF YOU ARE AN ANNE BRIGGS FAN, HAVE A DECENT TURNTABLE, AND CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHOLEWHEAT BREAD AND SLICED-IN-A-BAG WHITE 'BREAD', THEN TREAT YOURSELF, THESE LPS CAN ONLY GO UP IN VALUE WHILST YOU ENJOY THE MUSIC.
THIS ITEM SHIPS FROM THE UK:
Paypal’s buyer and seller protection policy requires that sellers ship all packages with proof of delivery. This protects both the buyer and the seller from loss or non-receipt. Therefore, we can only ship outside the UK via Royal Mail Small Packet Air Mail with Tracked and Signed-For Delivery, which takes, on average, about 10 days to arrive. We will enter the tracking number on your Paypal payment shortly after it has shipped, from which you can track the package by clicking to the Royal Mail website. We regret having to use this method of shipping because it costs nearly a third more than regular air mail, but this does assure you and us of delivery and is required by Paypal. Some sellers choose to ship cheaper without tracking, but do so at their own risk. We choose not to risk being out of pocket every time we mail a package, so please bid elsewhere if you do not want the service we offer or intend to argue about the shipping rates quoted after the auction has closed. We wish you to receive your records in the same condition they leave us – this requires proper packing materials and protection whilst in transit. Our Shipping and Handling rates reflect only the true cost of actual postage with international tracking, quality mailers and any other packaging materials required.
And if you open your package carefully the mailers are re-usable, which is good value for you and great for our .
