I will always keep my P&P prices as low as possible, and even after yet another Royal Mail price hike from April this year, I have NOT raised my prices and will never compromise on solid, safe packing that is invariably heavier than most you will get. My P&P offers probably the best value-for-money for vinyl records available, and I even will pay for full insurance on any record that sells for over £100 at NO extra cost – that is UK and abroad. Also I aim to post the very same day after payment is received. You WILL see the difference when my packet arrives.

Label Conditions: Both very clean, fresh and attractive, practically as made with barely a spindle trace to be seen.

Cat Number: LSP-4578.

Mode / Speed: Stereo / 33.3 rpm.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of this Record / Info: 100 grams. A typical weight a record made with Dynaflex. This material divided opinion at the time, this I am sure is the first album I have ever offered made with it. However I have heard several records over the years with Dynaflex – some being better than others. This was a material RCA used in the early to late 1970s to save money with the price of conventional oil-based vinyl rising fast. Many record manufacturers were recycling old vinyl, often including the label resulting in very noisy inferior pressings. So Dynaflex by RCA was born. It was thin and flexible and results were very variable. They did not contain impurities, hence pressing quality was generally clean, but their thickness often meant warping and rumble. When flat, they were generally fine, and this record does play mostly with superb clean sound. A small pressing blemish near the very start of side two has a few brief and light surface sounds, this apart pretty much nothing else to fault. So do not be put off considering this scarce album. UK pressings are unlikely to be much better and they are seldom seen or offered as this somewhat uncommercial album sold in tiny numbers. Over time, this pioneering and important work has become a sort-after album.

Brief Info: This was Annette Peacock’s second album. Over the years she has gained in popularity and admired by many major recording artists who have covered her songs. With a jazz-style vocal, her early works are unconventional and experimental with use of early synthesisers and avant garde sound structures. Her first album was with Paul Bley entitled ‘Revenge’, it was recorded towards the end of the 1960s but not issued until 1971 by Polydor. This was hugely experimental and ‘out-there’, on this follow-up Bley again features and the same avant garde music again is the order-of-the-day. Both albums sold very poorly indeed and are seldom seen. This American copy appears hardly played and has amazing sound. The US imported cover has a small saw-cut – as many of these poor-selling albums had when they were shipped here – but still is almost entirely shrinkwrapped with just the opening edge neatly opened for record access. The front appears to have a foil-type surface and all bar the saw-cut near the bottom left corner is immaculate. So a rare chance for Peacock fans and those who have an ear for the more unusual and experimental artists.

Cover Grade and Format: PRACTICALLY MINT: but this NOT taking into account of the half inch saw deletion (or import) cut, this a trait of so many imported records at this time. The front has a foil cover and will rarely, if ever be seen more perfect in terms of real wear. The back is matt with the paste-on panel construction as favoured in America. Printed and made in the US. This is still almost entirely covered with it’s original shrinkwrap which is in superb tight and undamaged condition. This stating the obvious is a massive plus point on any foil covered cover. Micro-thin foil covers will in no time get damaged and flake, you are unlikely to see this incredible front cover looking better (bar the saw cut).

Cover Cosmetic Improvements: None Apparent.

The Cover: Put simply: apart from the saw-cut, this is like brand new. The wrapping fresh, clear and tight without any major splits or damage. Neatly cut open on the right wide to allow the record to be removed.

The Inner Sleeve: The owner put this record inside a new lined inner, that is the only one available.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(++): again, this looks practically as made with just a little manufacture marks on the very beginning of side two that have only gentle and very brief surface sound – little else at all and this record plays with very fine sound. I am sure this is my first Dynaflex record I have offered on Ebay, and will only offer if under exceptional circumstances – this being a rare album and seldom seen or offered. Also, of course, it has to play well, and this one really does. A copy with minimal plays on all the evidence with any surface trace marks few, very light and faint as seen critically under bright angled light. Visually a super record that should please many collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This experimental avant garde album plays for most all up to it’s high visual grading with little to fault bar the very brief quite gentle surface blemish at the start of side two. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A powerful production with immense detail and sonic delivery. Peacock has an amazing voice that at times is used almost as an instrument and is sometimes treated with electronic effects. I am certain this record has hardly been played and has a lovely shine and freshness. Pressed thin but not warped and it lies flat on the turntable, so no rumble or distortions. Barely anything spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this impressive somewhat ‘out-there’ record. It could prove difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.

NOTE: the original text inner sleeve IS HERE, it had been misplaced, it even has the matching small saw cut as per the cover. This in EXCELLENT(++) condition (NOT taking into account the import saw cut). This has text on both sides with band information and some lyrics and details. Clean, fresh and no edge splits or repairs. Just a fairly gentle semi-crease on one corner, this was not lined.
