Ansley Dunbar was almost the drummer for The Jimi Hendrix Experience when in an audition Hendrix was unable to decide to pick either Dunbar or Mitch Mitchell - the latter won Hendrix's coin flip.
Dunbar led the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, a cool bluesbreakers styled Shicken Shack, Keef Hartley, Greens Fleetwood Mack blustery band who wrote the song "Warning", covered by Black Sabbath on their debut album. Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation issued at least 4 highly sought albums.
Their 1970 To Mum From Ansley & The Boys....In this case we are treated to a good set of blues driven by the edition of Tommy Eyre on keyboards. The progressions as expected are easy to follow, but the heavy vocals of Victor Brox on top of accented organ and piano riffs entertain the listener to no end. One favorite is the soulful "Don't Take the Power Away". If you like John Mayall Bluesbreakers, Keef Heartley Band, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac British Blues boom music this would be a good addition.

If you like Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac or at least think it was respectable, you might want to give this a try. The structure is similar, but the dryness is somewhat lubricated with the piano sharing the leads. Aynsley is a drummer so expect more and longer percussion. It’s not a draw back until the last song which ends with about a 5 minute drum solo. I like to think of it as the signal to look for my next selection. A couple different types of guitars share leads with an organ on “Memory Pain” with the end result being the signature British Blues song.
