& THE IMPERIALS
Little Anthony Gourdine, the lead singer, Sam Strain, the first tenor, Ernie Wright, second tenor and Clarence Collins, the baritone bass, are all lads from the much-maligned borough of Brooklyn in New York City. They have been singing together since their early high school days. Their success is very easily pinpointed. Simply, there is nobody - but nobody - who can boast of a sound that is near theirs.
Add to this, a highly unique penchant for selecting songs that blend perfectly with their harmonic approach, and one can understand how and why each of their releases immediately leap on to the charts in nothing flat.
This VEEP single is his magnificent track “It’s Not The Same” and is from October of 1966. While these singles for Veep never hit the charts, they have endured as some the most moving tracks of his long career.
This one is flipped with “Down On Me” and is a brilliant stock copy, not the usual promo release.
CONDITION: NEAR MINT / RECORD STORE UNSOLD STOCK. Original sleeve is here, but is a bit worn thru.
