 hi, i'm selling some acetates or test pressings this week which are mainly 60's beat, and i guess pretty rare, theres a soul one too. these are all one sided records which are pressed as the record is being produced or mixed to see if the sound levels are good before the final release, maybe some of these are genuine one offs???? they are listed with sound, theres a few which i'm not sure who they are by as there is no artist credit, if anyone knows i'd be greatful if you'd let me know, THANKS. CONDITION : vinyl VG+, only has some light marks, plays great, please check the sound sample

COMMENTS: What to say about this record?? killer tune, maybe a one off?? different chuck jackson vocal cut?? this Burt Bacharach and Bob Hilliard written track was first recorded by chuck jackson in 1962 for the new york label wand but has since been recorded by quite a lot of others. i've listened to 9 different recordings of this song (from country and western to soul and pop!!) and this acetate sounds really similar to the chuck jackson cut. its nothing like any of the other versions i've listened to. the vocal track is different to the released chuck jackson cut, but in a very similar style, and the music is really similar, almost the same in parts, maybe a little slower - the organ and the backing sound very very alike. i'm wondering if this could be a different smoother vocal cut sung by chuck jackson or maybe another vocalist at wand?? its a killer track, and i guess very rare, whoever it is!!!! the credit on the record saying hill and range is actually a reference to the publishers of the music. what is very interesting is that the owner of the wand label (florence greenberg)  had very strong links to hill and range publishers - she got her start in music working for them (reference http://www.bsnpubs.com/scepter/scepterstory.html) and maybe she would have used them and the local people associated recordings in new york to press up acetates for wand. the sound is consistent with the early 60's too. if any soul experts out there have any insight about this record please please let me know and i will update the listing with your comments, THANKS! the disc itself is a USA pressed acetate. this one sided disc is actually 10" wide, but the actual bit that plays is 7 and a half inces wide, so theres a really big run in groove section at the start. this acetate has four holes in the centre (please see picture) which the labels go over.

for conditions of labels please see the photos. all records will have been play graded and will come in a paper sleeve unless stated. if theres a sound file its from the actual record being sold. if the b side is a version i will not have checked it, sorry, i've not enough time if i'm listing loads of records - if you want me to check the version just get in touch and i'll have a listen. records will be posted out in proper record mailers with a cardboard stiffner. always happy to combine postage. i will get a proof of postage from the post office for all records. if you need special postal requirements please get in touch, these will be charged at cost. the post office insures each packet for up to £26 only. all auctions will run to the end with no reserve price. if you need to know anything about the record or auction just get in touch and i'll do my best to answer your questions, thanks for looking GRADINGS nr mint. looks new, plays perfectly, no marks, clean labels ex . plays great, but will have been used, no deterioration in sound quality, all in all a great copy vg. record has been played quite a bit, but is still in very listenable condition, may have a little crackle and the odd pop or click, but no hiss, still a good copy g. has seen considerable amounts of play and visualy probably isn't that good. however, the record will still play all the way through with no jumps or skips. will probably have quite a lot of pop and click. PLEASE NOTE THAT RECORDS IN G CONDITION WILL PROBABLY HAVE LOTS OF MARKS - THE VINYL WILL USUALLY NOT LOOK THAT PRETTY! I CLEAN ALL MY RECORDS SO MANY RECORDS IN G CONDITION WILL STILL SOUND NICE - PLEASE CHECK THE SOUND FILES + and - will be used to sway the gradings
