Description
"British electronics wunderkind Richard James (alias Aphex Twin, AFX, Polygon Window, etc.) claims he heard the compositions on Selected Ambient Works, Volume II in lucid dreams. Like abstract paintings composed of shades of a single color, James's resonant explorations of specific timbres linger close to a central idea on each cut, incorporating just enough variation to remain disturbing. While its predecessor, Selected Ambient Works '85-'92 drew on seven years' worth of material, the uniform quality of these untitled tracks, plus their judicious sequencing, suggests they were assembled over a shorter period. Clocking in at over 150 minutes, the double-disc set (if this is "selected," how many hours of outtakes remain?) provides an exemplary introduction to the quieter facets of James's expansive, idiosyncratic aesthetic." - Kurt B. This is the Aphex Twin "Selected Ambient Works Volume Two" triple vinyl lp record set released by Warp Records in 1994.
The album features twenty-five tracks across three records. The records are pressed on brown vinyl and are packaged in a gatefold card picture sleeve with three white paper sleeves and a paper inlay.The sleeve has some wear: scuffs & marks here & there, some slight creasing at one corner, the edges are a little bashed and there seems to have been something spilled on the back, but the stain is not really visible. I think that perhaps some excess glue was spilled when assembling the sleeve at the factory as this imperfection has been on the sleeve since I bought it eighteen years ago. You can feel a rough patch on the back, but the spillage can't really be seen unless reflected in light.
This record was released in a strictly limited edition and the sticker on the front of the sleeve indicates that this one has the relatively low number of: 001765.
Please note that this album is very rare and I have seen other sellers asking over £120 for it so don't miss your chance to grab a collectable item at a bargain price! This item would make a welcome addition to any AFX/ Aphex Twin/ The Tuss/ Universal Indicator/ Autechre/ Squarepusher/ Ceephax Acid Crew/ Cylob/ Mu-Ziq/ Plaid/ Rephlex/ Warp/ electronica/ etc fan's collection!
