The album took 12 months to complete, but by time of release in June 1972 the group had already broken up. At the time it wasn`t overwhelmingly received(approx only 20 million sold worldwide)and, in some countries, it quickly faded into obscurity. But progressive bands of the time,and later, were so influenced by it that it became a bench mark for them. With the likes of Jon Roy Anderson of Yes fame who thought so highly of Vangelis that he invited him to join his `crew` and help with the release of his first solo album `Olias Of Sunhillow` in 1976(see liner notes). For many years the album has been heralded as one of the most influential and best prog/psych rock albums of all time.
