Description

A.R. PENCK : Piano Solo LP (no label [Germany] AS 3) 198?

Record is VG: it has one patch of ugly-looking scratches about halfway through side B (which is mislabeled as side A), causing surface noise with each revolution, lasting about 3 minutes. The music is pretty loud at this point, so it's not especially conspicuous if you're not listening for it, but it's definitely audible. Otherwise it looks very clean, though there is audible surface noise here and there, particularly noticeable during the quieter parts of the solo piano side. Cover is also VG with a 4" split in the middle of the bottom seam, a 3.5" split in the middle of the top seam, and a 2.5" split in the middle of the spine.

Side A and B labels are reversed.

Original copy of one of the many (40 or so) privately released LPs by German neo-expressionist artist A.R. Penck. At various times his group (Triple Trip Touch aka TTT) included many of the big names of the '80s free jazz / avant garde scene, including Frank Lowe, Billy Bang, Butch Morris, William Parker, Frank Wright, Peter Kowald, Max Eastley, Phil Minton, Denis Charles, Jeanne Lee, Louis Moholo, Alan Silva, Gunter Hampel, Ellen Christi, etc.

This is solo piano on one side and piano and drums on the other. Penck is the only one credited so we assume he plays both instruments.

Not the best copy, but Penck LPs are pretty tough to find in any condition.
