A special favorite that I can really get lost in. This is really majestic and dramatic in the most primitive way possible for a fairly proficient heavy organ-rock band. Vanilla Fudge is probably the closest reference point in my mind, but Arcadium went into a more extreme mood of prolonged despondency.
With a very strong bass guitar sound, aggressive drumming, and slabs of organ bombast and burning guitar equally prominent in a rich blend, this album has sheer sonic power to go along with the distinctive vocals and songwriting style that create the kind of moods that both rouse your rock pulse and sap your will and energy. For those folks who indulge in recreational drugs of the 60s rock culture variety, I'd imagine this album could form the basis of one of the heaviest, most serious sessions of life-escapism possible. Even for me as a straight-laced fellow with no use for such experiential artillery, listening to this album feels like a true abandonment of the sensibility required in ordinary life, a trip if you will. I really get into it. I feel, so, uh, "psychedelic". Something like that.
