Description

For auction is ARCHIE SHEPP's "Four For Trane," on Impulse A-71, MONO, GF, 1964. White-LabelPromo Edition. With Roswell Rudd, Reggie Workman, others.

SOUND: VG+/NM-

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Outstanding playback in all respects! Clean, crisp, powerful! Side A is darn-near perfect. Side B has faint surface noise for the first 90 seconds or so. You have to strain to hear it but it's there. There is a faint, random tic here and there on the remainder of B1, "Cousin Mary." The final 2 cuts are again, near-perfection!

VINYL: VG+ or better

Side A has a few hairline marks -- having no effect on the playback. Side B has a few light scuffs in B1, likely the source of the faint surface noise or occasional tic. The white "promo" labels are clean, in excellent shape, with a few faint spindle marks. "Van Gelder" stamp appears in run-outs both sides.

JACKET: VG+/NM-

The gatefold jacket is beautiful overall. The outside edges and spine are solid and straight, with a tough of wear on the center spine, where the laminate is beginning to come up in a tiny spot. There is also a tiny spot of fraying on the bottom, back edge. The corners have routine minor bumps or modest wear/softening. Still, not bad. Front and back covers are clean and unmarked, in excellent condition with minimal routine aging. Ditto the inner gatefold. Only a touch of minor age-spotting.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

A beautiful record. Great playback, great overall condition. No reserve, bidding starts at $25.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
