Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Contains the very scarce hit single sticker on front cover...there were THREE huge smash hits on this album ... (most folks quickly tore off the outer wrapper and there went the now very scarce hit single sticker too...)

Say what you will -but- the recording production quality of this pressing is INCREDIBLE - rich and dynamic, the bottom bass lines rattle the walls when maximized...

Blood, Sweat and Tears released their second album in 1969 right after their '68 debut Child Is Father To The Man. Their sophomore S/T album easily lives up to their debut and might even surpass it. Their sound is a bit more developed here and a lot of the psychedelic undertones of their debut are absent. BS&T have always had a unique direction with their signature jazz/progressive/fusion rock and they stand out from many other bands in the late '60s which was typically psychedelic, folk or blues folk. BS&T had the right sound for the '60s but they had more edge to their sound along with a more complex and progressive structure in their songs. If you're a fan of similar bands such as Chicago and Steely Dan or looking for a good rock album in general, check out BS&T along with their debut album.

While this recording on Blood Sweat & Tears LP #2 had great commercial success, there are many short sighted (and some self congratulatory) rock critics that want to dismiss this, important recording as being too "pop-oriented". Yet this LP recording broke new ground and transcended genres. Yes there were perfect pop-crafted gold singles but also the album garnered respect and caught the attention of musicians, critics and fans alike. Frankly the band was stronger and the soloing better on this recording. The jazz element was prevalent although meshing quite nicely with Rock. They broke with killer arrangements riffing in the background in support of guitar and organ formula.

True standouts are "God Bless the Child", "More and More", " Blues Part II" "Smiling Phases" and "You've Made Me So Very Happy" (which the rock purist didn't know Kooper wanted to perform and tried). The jazz-fusion influence is strong on this recording. The musicians ALL shine in their solo spots. There soloing is varied. There are jazz solo's dropped into the middle of rock driven tunes which some may have felt accentuated the differences between Rock and Jazz, but if you listen closely you can also hear what they have in common. This album is an unrecognized classic, from one of the innovative bands of their time. They were the first of their kind, though many followed afterward. There was only one, Blood, Sweat & Tears.
