While the inclusion of 'Respect' -- one of the truly seminal singles in pop history -- is in and of itself sufficient to earn I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You classic status, Aretha Franklin's Atlantic label debut is an indisputable masterpiece from start to finish. Much of the credit is due to producer Jerry Wexler, who finally unleashed the soulful intensity so long kept under wraps during her Columbia tenure; assembling a crack Muscle Shoals backing band along with an abundance of impeccable material, Wexler creates the ideal setting to allow Aretha to ascend to the throne of Queen of Soul, and she responds with the strongest performances of her career. While the brilliant title track remains the album's other best-known song, each cut on I Never Loved a Man is touched by greatness; covers of Ray Charles' 'Drown in My Own Tears' and Sam Cooke's 'Good Times' and 'A Change Is Gonna Come' are on par with the original recordings, while Aretha's own contributions -- 'Don't Let Me Lose This Dream,' 'Baby, Baby, Baby,' 'Save Me,' and 'Dr. Feelgood (Love Is a Serious Business)' -- are perfectly at home in such lofty company. The Queen of Soul explodes on this classic 1967 album, one of two or three quintessential Soul albums of all time. This is the pinnacle of Aretha's career and one of the great, classic soul albums. Includes some of Aretha's most passionate recordings such as title track; Respect; Dr. Feelgood; Do right woman; and many other.

The so-called "MINI" (or Juke Box) LPs ARE NOT to be confused for regular 7-inch, 4-track EPs which were widely commercially available. The 7-inch MINI LP's were made EXCLUSIVELY for use in Jukebox machines or for other promotional purposes and were usually accompanied by the set of 4- or 6 jukebox labels (usually, but not always, replicating the original cover artwork). The MINI LP's were NEVER commercially available in any way, manner or form, and are usually NOT listed as a separate category in the record collecting price books and directories. Unlike EP records which usually came with 4 tracks (2 on each side), MINI LPs were exactly what the name suggests: a mini version of the complete 12-inch album, usually with 3 (or even 4!) tracks on each side. MINI LPs were, therefore, supposed to be representative snapshots of the artist's latest album. We proudly present here a mighty rare specimen of the original JUKEBOX LP, complete with a set of jukebox labels (please see the image below). Mouthwatering is the right word here.
