Description

I’ve recently acquired a number of extremely rare vintage test pressings spanning jazz (Tubby Hayes, Ronnie Scott, Alan Skidmore), soul (Aretha Franklin), pop (Phil Spector) and more. I’m selling them all now, so please check my other items.

Soul ‘69

(Atlantic test pressing) 1969

 

Up for auction here is a two-sided US Atlantic white label test pressing for the recordings that were released in January 1969 as Soul 69 (that title is not given on the labels).

 

It was produced by Jerry Wexler and Tom Dowd and features musicians including Ron Carter, Grady Tate, Joe Zawinul, Kenny Burrell, Tommy Cogbill,  Spooner Oldham, Junior Mance and King Curtis.

 

The dead wax contains the markings ST-A-681481 and ST-A-681482, and I assume it was pressed in the fall of 1968.

 

Both sides are VG+ and it comes in a plain white inner sleeve.

 

Needless to say, you will probably never have another chance to acquire this.

I’ve been selling records on eBay since 2001 and am a collector myself. I have 100% positive feedback and grade records as accurately and conservatively as possible, as well as packing them with great care.
