Description
Here is a privately pressed record from 1972 by the Arica Institute, of New York (cat no. AI1001). Double vinyl, g/fold sleeve.
Arica: 'Audition'
The record seems to get mentioned a lot in weirdo blogs and freakout sites, currently a guy on discogs.com is selling it for over $700, although he may be mad.
Anyway, back to the record - i know it is one of three trance/meditation aid type things that the Arica Institute put out, but it has gone on to be desirable by fans of the strange. I found the following description on hipwax.xom
"Private-press masterpiece by the world's best amateur guru band!; mysterious NYC meditation group named after a town in northern Chile created this stone gasser; Tibetan ritual chanting (the most far-out stuff there is), wild jazz, funk, tabla, sitar; rec. mainly at Electric Lady Studios in NYC--very professionally done, although the pressing quality isn't so great (*endemic mild backgound noise not due to wear); jacket sports a great mandala & the liners tell you about "listening with the soles of your feet."

I'm offering this with no reserve - i do not know what it is worth so we'll see what happens. I know what people ask for it in the US, but that isn't necessarily what it's worth, and i'm fine with that - i hope it goes to a good home.
CONDITION: The sleeve is a bit battered at the edges but the pics are all lovely. Bright colours still. The seams at the top of each side have split about 1/3 along (see pic 6). Also, there is a sticker to the spine at the top, possibly from a reference library or similar (see pic 7). The vinyl, honestly, look unplayed with no spindle marks at all. However, sadly there is a single scratch mark on side 2 (1" long, see pic 5) and one other, much fainter and less serious looking, on side three, possibly even just a dirt mark that will rub off.
