The difficult second album and the least accessible Armored Saint release. Dissatisfied with the over-production of debut album March of the Saint, 'the Saint' were determined to rekindle the spirit of their incendiary live performances which they felt the producers nullified on their first release. This is Armored Saint with a much harder edge but there were problems during the recording - founding member Phil Sandoval left (or was sacked) leaving the majority of the guitar work to Dave Prichard. Prichard does a good job but the album really misses Sandoval's inventive guitar. As with all Armored Saint albums there is tight musicianship and some great songs (Long Before I Die, The Laugh, Conqueror etc) on here but I wouldn't recommend it as someone's first AS album - anyone wanting to dip into Armored Saint's back catalogue should get March of the Saint, Symbol of Salvation, Revelation or recent release La Reza before purchasing this.
