One of, if not Belgian’s most original band ever! Aroma Di Amore went really big in the disturbing eighties where experiments and ‘a certain form of intelligence’ were highly credited in the new wave scene. Indeed, the third edition of the Belgian Independent Music Festival celebrates the magic of the new wave. Aroma Di Amore was formed by the duo Fred Angst (guitars) and Elvis Peeters, the latter was responsible for the original and sharp-witted Dutch lyrics (a kind of modern an slightly lunatic poetry) that showed Aroma Di Amore to be more than another ordinary rock band. Some had their doubts about the possibilities of international recognition for a band singing in Dutch, but Aroma Di Amore proofed them wrong, completely wrong. The band toured successfully in France, Switzerland, Spain,…an their records figured in alternative charts form Poland to Canada. The music of Aroma Di Amore varies from up-tempo new wave songs to more experimental tracks, sometimes even including sax or playful, yet disturbing or moody synth layers.
