Description
PLEASE NOTE: I WILL ONLY GRADE AN OPENED LP NEAR MINT (NM) IF I CAN GUARANTEE IT HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED (i.e. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER). OTHERWISE, NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) IS THE ABSOLUTE HIGHEST GRADE I WILL ASSIGN AN OPENED LP.
INCREDIBLY RARE Rudy Van Gelder mastered BLP 4003 hybrid pressing of this stone jazz classic in glorious mono from 1960? with Plastylite ear and RVG dead wax stamps, "R" and INC on the side 2 label only, BN-LP-4003-A / BN-LP-4003-B matrices etched in the dead wax, respectively, on sides A and B, deep groove on both sides, NO 9M matrix suffix on side A, 47 WEST 63rd NYC address on both labels, laminated front cover and 47 West 63rd St., New York 23 address at the bottom on the rear cover!!! Release year is assumed to be 1960 per the cover address on the rear but cannot be confirmed as I can't find a single entry for this pressing anywhere in the gargantuan, all-knowing Discogs database whatsoever. I have had well over 50 copies of this LP pass through my hands in my 45 years of collecting and selling and I have never seen this variant before. THAT'S how you know it's rare. Anyone with any info on this one please get in touch as I'm stumped. LP is a nice VG+ with some light paper scuffs at 6:00 on side 2. Cover is VG with no splits, no seams and some light ring and light foxing on the rear.
I USE GOLDMINE GRADING~ MINT (SEALED) NEAR MINT: LOOKS UNPLAYED VG++: VERY VERY MINIMAL SIGNS OF USE VG+: AVERAGE SIGNS OF USE, NOTHING DEEP, SUPERFICIAL VG: STILL AN OK RECORD, NOISE BETWEEN SONGS
GOOD: WORN BUT PLAYS FINE WITH DISTRACTING NOISE POOR: FILLER COPY ONLY. LOTS OF SCRATCHES
