This is a reasonably priced ORIGINAL 1960 BLUE NOTE RECORDS U.S. MONO LP titled 'The Big Beat' from the great jazz drummer Art Blakey And The Jazz Messengers. It is Blue Note Records U.S. catalog number 4029, thick rigid vinyl deep groove pressing, 47 West 63rd NYC address on labels, "RVG" and ear stamps in deadwax. Recorded on March 6, 1960 by Rudy Van Gelder at Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. Personnel: Tenor Saxophone – Wayne Shorter / Trumpet – Lee Morgan / Piano – Bobby Timmons / Bass – Jymie Merritt / Drums – Art Blakey

Condition of record is a real nice high VG+ with just two or three small and light surface marks which only show up under strong light, cannot be felt, and do not affect play. Condition of cover is a low VG+ with a 2" split in the middle of the top edge, the 1/4" beginning of a split in the bottom edge at the lower right corner, a 3/4" mark in red ballpoint near the top left corner of the back cover, the lamination beginning to come up along the right hand open edge of the front cover, a few small wrinkles in the lamination, some ring and contact wear, and some wear along the edges and on the corners. Cover has no water damage, tape, tears, or stickers. This first press mono LP would be a choice addition to any Blue Note Records or jazz record collection!
