Description

Up for auction is a really nice copy of the album "Art Blakey's Jazz Messangers With Thelonious Monk" released on Atlantic Records (#1278) in 1958.  This copy is an original, deep groove, mono pressing on the black & silver Atlantic labels.  Johnny Griffin on sax.  The cover is in beautiful condition, high gloss shiny lamination intact with no ring wear.  Corners looks sharp, though one is ever so slightly bumped.  Seams strong, no splits.  Back cover lamination also bright and shiny, bone white as it should be, no writing or age spotting.  Back paper is bubbled in a couple places--from the factory.  Super clean.  Call it Near Mint (NM).  The vinyl is equally nice, retaining its original gloss and sheen.  No obvious scratches or scuffs.  Perhaps some very superficial evidence of disc having been taken out of the inner sleeve a few times.  Vinyl looks close to unplayed.  I have play tested it, and it sounds clean and clear, no background noise to distract you.  Great fidelity.  Call it Near Mint Minus- (NM-).  Original copies of this album are becoming harder to find, especially in this condition.
