Biography
by Scott Yanow
Largely overlooked during his formative years, Art Farmer's consistently inventive playing was more greatly appreciated as he continued to develop. Along with Clark Terry, Farmer helped to popularize the flügelhorn among brass players. His lyricism gave his bop-oriented style its own personality. Farmer studied piano, violin, and tuba before settling on trumpet. He worked in Los Angeles from 1945 on, performing regularly on Central Avenue and spending time in the bands of Johnny Otis, Jay McShann, Roy Porter, Benny Carter, and Gerald Wilson among others; some of the groups also included his twin brother, bassist Addison Farmer (1928-1963). After playing with Wardell Gray... Read More...

AND, LASTLY, PLEASE DO REMEMBER SOUND QUALITY IS AFFECTED BY WHAT THE VINYL IS PLAYED ON! IF YOUR STEREO SYSTEM HAS BEEN CAREFULLY CHOSEN AND ASSEMBLED FOR IT'S AURAL QUALITIES AND YOU PERFORM BASIC MAINTENANCE LIKE CLEANING YOUR VINYL, CLEANING THE NEEDLE AFTER EACH PLAY, AND REPLACING THE CARTRIDGE WHEN NEEDED, YOUR LPS SHOULD SOUND QUITE GOOD.

PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT CONDITIONS OF SALE:
GRADING & POLICIES: ALL RECORDS ARE VISUALLY GRADED AND THE RED GRADE REFERS ONLY TO THE STATE OF VINYL......YOU PLAY THE VINYL AND NOT THE COVER....COVER IS NOTED SEPARATELY. IF I'VE LISTENED TO THE LP IT WILL BE NOTED. The following is a general overview about grades, subject to any above notations: MINT indicates pristine vinyl without any marks on surface. MINT MINUS may contain a few very light surface rub marks from play or sleeve wear under light. If you are a real collector, you'll know that even a factory sealed LP occasionally has some light sleeve or rub marks. Anything in the VG category would contain some light and fine surface play lines and or have some other visible signs of ring or hole wear. Rarely do I offer something in the "G" state. If I do, it's usually a rare LP and priced accordingly. Values are assigned according to market availability, rarity and my experience in the business for over 25 years, not a price guide or any other standard.

PAYMENT: PAYPAL ONLY ACCEPTED AND SHOULD BE MADE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF SALE END (IF YOU BID ON SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR IT). IF PAYING BY PAYPAL E-CHECK PLEASE ADVISE BEFORE BIDDING. I like to ship your records out within 2-3 days of payment, so using PAYPAL gets the records to you ASAP and concludes the transaction. Contact me after the auction if your PAYPAL payment will be delayed so I know what's going on. FOREIGN CUSTOMERS: The 1st LP is $16 for 1st class airmail, each additional LP is $4 (up to a total of four, five and over need priority and the price almost doubles). IF YOU CAN NOT EDIT THE EBAY OR PAYPAL CHECKOUT TO REFLECT FOUR DOLLARS FOR EACH EXTRA LP, PLEASE PAY THE $16 AIRMAIL CHARGE EACH TIME AND THE EXCESS POSTAGE WILL BE REFUNDED BACK TO YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT UPON RECEIPT OF YOUR PAYPAL PAYMENT.

SHIPPING: QUESTION: SHIPPING QUESTION: WHY ARE SHIPPING CHARGES SO HIGH? ANSWER: BECAUSE ALL LPS ARE SENT DOMESTIC INSURED WHILE FOREIGN POSTAGE IS NOW $12-15 FOR ONE RECORD. ALL LPS ARE SHIPPED WITH A NEW PLASTIC OUTER SLEEVE SURROUNDED BY 2 NEW CORRUGATED PACKING SQUARES(50 cents each) INSIDE A NEW CORRUGATED LP MAILER($1.50 each) WITH FRAGILE STICKERS OUTSIDE TO ENSURE THE LP ARRIVES JUST AS IT LEFT AND THAT IS $2.50 BESIDES POSTAGE!

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: IMPORT DUTIES, TAXES AND CHARGES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE ITEM PRICE OR SHIPPING CHARGES. THESE CHARGES ARE THE BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY. PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR COUNTRY'S CUSTOMS OFFICE TO DETERMINE WHAT THESE ADDITIONAL COSTS WILL BE PRIOR TO BIDDING/BUYING. WE SHIP IN A TIMELY MANNER WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF YOUR PAYMENT. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DELAYS DUE TO CUSTOMS OR YOUR LOCAL POSTAL SERVICE.

YOUR SATISFACTION: Your positive feedback and excellent seller rating of 5 in each category is very important to me. I try to give as much detail as possible about appearance and condition. Should your purchase not meet your expectations please contact me before leaving feedback and detailed seller rating. YOUR SATISFACTION IS OF PRIME IMPORTANCE TO ME. Do you know how the Ebay Seller Ratings System works? Did you know that even a 4 rating is a bad rating for a seller? With most rating systems of 1 to 5(highest), you would expect a "4" to be a very good rating and a "5" to be an excellent/highest rating. You purchase an item on Ebay and the product, service, communications or fees were very good but not great. You give the seller all 4's thinking this is very good.(Most rating systems equate 1=lowest, 2=fair, 3=good, 4=very good, 5=highest). Unfortunately this is not how it works on EBAY as of May 2008. ONLY A "5" IS A GOOD RATING. The lowest acceptable average for each category is 4.6; below that a seller receives a "NEEDS WORK" and their standings in the listings are lowered. SURPRISING BUT TRUE AND SEEMINGLY UNFAIR.
