MOTHER MOON / PRETENDS / HEINZ ... 7-inch, 45rpm 3 track EP single by ARTERY. Original UK private pressing on the LIMITED EDITION RECORDS label (Take 1), from 1979. Cult debut release by this underground and influential group from the late '70s Sheffield scene. An obscure private press and desirable example of the industrial no wave / English post punk sound. Our soundclip opens with the killer PRETENDS theme with hammering drums and addictive vocals riding sinister, doom laden fuzz distortions. This one shoots from the hip with more than enough swagger for leftfield DJs. One for the Andy Votel / B-Music lover, for sure. Menacing, funky and experimental in a Silver Apples A Pox On You (Contact Lp version) kind of way and if you are into punky gothic guitar jams in general, then this track will slay you ;) MOTHER MOON and HEINZ are also superb. Again, edgy and very infectious. A personal favourite live act of a young Jarvis Cocker and championed on late night radio by John Peel too. Early footage of Artery appears in Eve Wood's "must-see" Made In Sheffield documentary film. Striking artwork with bizarre / thought-provoking lyrics on the back sleeve. Rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition overall with some hairlines and mini scuffs from sleeve removal. Some pressing marks to 'Mother Moon' side. Loud pressing. Light surface noises. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. Small archive sticker to both sides of the label. The soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition overall with mini tear to the top open side and circa 2" split to the middle of the bottom seam. Some ring creasing and a touch of wear to the corners. Rare 45!!!
