GALACTIC ZOO DOSSIER from ARTHUR BROWN and KINGDOM COME on POLYDOR RECORDS Super 2310 130 Stereo, is the first eclectic excursion from this legendary eccentric artist and bandleader - following his outrageous psychedelic ‘musical tantrums’ as The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. He was obviously influenced by Screaming Jay Hawkins, another wild and unique singer who broke all traditions. Unlike predecessor Screamin’ Lord Sutch though, Arthur Brown steered toward a more colourful theatrical attitude, and less focus on coffins and murders! This album saw Arthur become less commercially ‘pop-psych’ and aiming for structured, expressive concepts. This made him less visible with the popular market, but won him more fans among the underground and progressive rock listeners. This takes more ‘getting into’, but the end result is more enduring and ultimately satisfying overall, in my opinion. Arthur still plays and records in England, hailing from Lewes in Sussex. One of my friends plays in his band, and I’ve seen him play in Brighton in recent years too - and his voice is still powerful and he projects it with endless enthusiasm! I’m compelled to compare him with Eric Burdon actually, who also still retains a wonderful and strong voice (having seen him performing recently too, in California) This 1971 album is in TOP condition, looking and sounding absolutely MINT. The poster is included, and it too is as new. The nice gatefold cover has been stored carefully, and has only the lightest sign of wear, grading NM.
