Description: In 1964, RCA asked Arthur Fielder to record “Rhapsody", hoping for the same commerical success & critical acclaim gathered by his label mate Stokowski a few years earlier with his release of the same name. Fielder agreed but on one condition. To set himself apart from Stokowski, he switched it up by recording “Rhapsody in Blue” by Gershwin & “España Rapsodie” by Chabrier instead of "The Moldau” & "The Bartered Bride” by Smetana. Unfortunately, this change fell flat with the classical buying public and the release was soon found in bargain bins everywhere. A shame as this is one of Fiedler’s best recordings, muscially and sonically. A personal favorite.
Original shaded dog US pressing on RCA Living Stereo catalog # LSC 2746 with the matrix #'s 3S / 3S. The letter "I" is also stamped in the run-out groove indicating it was pressed in Indianapolis.
