ASD 319-321 His Master's Voice, Gold & cream label, EW1

Joseph Keilberth conducts this landmark three record set of Carl Maria von Weber's "Der Freischütz" with Rudolf Schock, Lisa Otto, Elisabeth Grümmer, Walter Dicks, Karl Kohn, Hermann Preyand the Berlin Philharmonic. A hard-to-find set which didn't last too long in the catalog.

The "Made in Gt. Britain" discs look glossy and flawless; they generally play at the NM level with very quiet surfaces on my Goldring 1042, except for random tics in the first seconds of some (not all) sides, esp. side 1. Discs look perfect, however, and pro cleaning should make an improvement.

The early "plum" box is bright and intact with some corner rubbing, VG+. Insert is NM; there's no libretto, which had to be purchased separately, anyway.

A fine collector's copy.
