Description
Immaculate condition copy of this rare 1960 release on HMV Records (ASD 330) with its original cream and gold label design. Rudolf Kempe conducts the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of vartious overtures. The programme comprises : (1) Smetana - "The Bartered Bride" (2) Nicolai - "The Merry Wives of Windsor" (3) Weber - "Oberon" (4) Mendelssohn - "The Hebrides (Fingal's Cave)" (5) Berlioz - "Le Carnival Romain"
Condition is excellent. The sleeve is clean and crisp with no tears or seam splits and hardly any shelf wear. The spine is perfectly intact with no creases or splits. Basically, the sleeve is in much the same condition as it was in on the day it was made.
The vinyl is in near mint condition with no scratches, scuffs or abrasions. Playback is unaffected by any ticks, clicks or crackles; surface noise is wonderfully low and there is no noticeable distortion and no jumps or skips. It is also worth pointing out that this recording has unusually good sound quality - really crisp and detailed with great presence and instrumental separation and a real sense of air and space - not all ASD's are this good !
This is quite a rare and sought after record and a real treat for music lovers AND audiophiles alike.
