ASD 489 white/gold – BACH: 6 Sonatas for Violin & Harpsichord – Menuhin / Malcolm
1962 HMV stereo recording on white/gold label Catalogue Number ASD 489. “Factory Sample” sticker on Side 1 label. Yehudi Menuhin (violin) & George Malcolm (harpsichord) play Bach’s Sonatas No.1 (BWV 1014), No.2 (BWV 1017) and No.6 (BWV 1019). The special feature of these recordings is the use of a viola da gamba as an accompaniment, played by Ambrose Gauntlett.
Disc is in beautiful clean, shiny condition. There is a hairline mark on track 1, Side 1; this produces 3 barely audible ticks. We have not played the rest of Side 1 or any of Side 2 as there are no visible marks. Fantastic sound quality. Sleeve is intact but very scruffy on corners
