ORIGINAL ITALIAN FIRST ISSUE
ASH RA TEMPEL
- STARRING ROSI -

This is the original issue of their fifth album, a massive departure from the formula of their previous Ohr releases (which were primarily one track per side, containing a full electric freak-out on side 1 with side 2 featuring floating cosmic bliss). This album has Manuel Gottsching reaching towards San Francisco for his psychedelic guitar inspiration, with even more fantastic acid-guitar moves mixed into his trademark cosmic Krautrock vibes. His girlfriend at the time (Rosi Muller) contributes some heavily psychedelicized spoken-word, as she had on the few previous albums, but they are more to the fore here and the album is all the better for it. There are of course cosmic synths and serious washed of guitar overdubs everywhere, with tons of fantastic lead playing and some of the only actual tunes to exist in his entire catalog (many of these tracks are under five minutes, though there are a few long ones as well). A vastly underrated LP, in our opinion this is one of the standouts of the Kosmische Musik imprint, and some of the finest "straight" guitar playing of his career. Harald Grosskopf (Wallenstein, Cosmic Jokers, Klaus Schulze) makes some fine drumming contributions, and engineer Dieter Dierks lays down some groovy bass (as he did on Cosmic Jokers). The master tapes for all of these early ART releases are long gone, so every CD issue has been taken from vinyl. Here is a chance to hear it as it is supposed to sound, without all the noise reduction and inferior 80's analog-to-digital conversion. A true classic that no psychedelic fan should be without.
