ASIA Aqua ~ Ultra Rare LP 1992 Germany Musidisc LP Stunning NM!!
ASIA ~ Aqua LP. MUSIDISC (Intercord Record Services) IRS 951.959. Made in Germany 1992.
This auction is for the very rare Asia LP “Aqua” released in 1992. It was manufactured and purchased in very small quantities on this format.
What makes this copy so special is the LP’s superb condition. Whilst I have graded this LP as Near Mint, this is arguably a conservative grading in this instance. I think it is unlikely that this LP has ever been played. A truly stunning example of this hard to find LP.
Grading: -
Outer Sleeve: NM
The gloss finished gatefold sleeve is in stunning Near Mint condition. It is hard to find fault with. It is possibly in the same condition as when it was first bought. It is bright, clean and undamaged. On the top edge there is a tiny narrow crack in the seam which is just 10mm long. This is not a split in the seam itself and is in fact barely noticeable. The only other point worth noting is that each side of the gatefold sleeve is very slightly out of alignment when closed (measured at 3mm!). This is almost certainly a result of the manufacturing process. You may be able to pick this out in the photos but it’s not an obvious issue. The spine is undamaged and hasn’t been twisted to cause this very slight misalignment. The points noted are my attempts at highlighting anything I can find to comment on this sleeve. In fact it is just in simply beautiful condition and looks as almost as good as the day it was made.
Vinyl: NM
The Vinyl is in Near Mint condition. I would strongly suspect this record has never been played. There is certainly no evidence of it being used. I can see just the most incredibly feint hairline or two under strong halogen light which has undoubtedly been caused by removal from the paper inner sleeve (This original inner wasn’t poly-lined). This LP is in stunning condition and many would grade it as being Mint.
Labels: NM
The Labels are in Near Mint condition – nice and clean and as mentioned previously. I cannot detect any signs of spindle marks, even under a bright halogen light . There is a small light grey mark on the A side label around the word “MUSIDISC” which may have been there when the label was first printed, or caused by a minor abrasion at some point since. Again, this point is noted here, although in all honesty, it is a minor point.
Inner Sleeve: NM - The plain generic white inner sleeve is un-creased and unmarked.
This is as good a copy as you will ever find. It is incredibly close to a grading of Mint. A quite superb record.
Postage and Packing:
All records are placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high-grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers. My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use.
