Title:  Association - Earwax

This is the first,ultrarare LP by drummer Pierre Courbois and his Association,the same group released 4 records under the name of Assocation P.C. later on the MPS label.P.C. is of course the abbreviation for Pierre Courbois,one of Holland’s free jazz legends,a european pioneer of that genre.In 1961 he formed the “Free Jazz Group”,for some years he played with the “Gunter Hampel Quintet” and he released a record on ESP in 1968 with the “Free Jazz Quintet”.One year later he founded the Association,one of the first european jazzrock groups,after watching Van‘t Hoff and T.Blanke performing on TV.

The album is a private release from 1970 on the tiny dutch MUNICH label,6802 634 M1,stereo.The line-up has Jasper van’t Hoff on fender rhodes,Toto Blanke on guitar,Siggi Busch or Peter Krijnen on bass and of course Pierre Courbois on drums.6 selfpenned tracks: Spider-Hit the P.Tit-Elsen –Earwax-Round A'Bout Nine –Jazzper.

Musically very unique,full of ideas and styles,very hard to be labeled:funky rhodes vamps alternate with psych“free”parts,progressive elements meet krautish parts,airy atmospheres are next to explosive outbursts-nevertheless the whole album sounds cohesive all of the time.Fantastic record,wich still seams to be a little unknown.If you like their MPS releases,you will love this one.A qoute from the backcover says:Watch Out Because Nothing Will Stop Association.Beautiful laminated gatefold-cover with linernotes in english and german.

Condition:the record looks mint-/ex+++ with just 2 few mm harmless superficial marks,it plays in mint- all of the time,even in the several quieter parts.

The cover has intact seams/spine,there is a little darkening of the white parts of the front and back(both are otherwise fine with slightest shelfwear),a few mm of the lamination have popped up on the back(upper right corner,it’s the little bright piece on the photo of the back),the inner of the gatefold is close to being perfect,overall ex+.

Grading:this used record has been cleaned on a prof. cleaning machine.After that I playgraded it on a Rega Planar 9 with a Rega Super Elys moving magnet system and I also visually graded the record under a strong light.I give you a detailed description of both gradings.Only an unplayed record is mint,the highest grading for a used record is mint-! My basic gradings are:mint-ex-vg.As a free service,cleaned records are stored in a brandnew deluxe innersleeve and the cover will be placed in a brandnew PVC protection-sleeve!
