Rating: In May 1963 album reached # 61 on the Billboard 200 album chart

The Astronauts are one of the many one hit wonder surf-rock bands from the early 60's. This is a pretty good album. The music is what you would expect; instrumental, lots of reverb and really tight playing. Their one lone hit "Baja" is present. That song still sounds great today. The trademark surfing song "Pipeline" is also here, every surf band does a great rendition. The rest of the album is your usual Beach Boys and Dick Dale covers. You gotta give The Astronauts some credit for being the only surf-rock band from Colorado.

The Astronauts were an American rock and roll band, who had a minor hit in 1963 with "Baja" and remained successful for several years, especially in Japan. They have been described as being, "along with...(the) Trashmen, the premier landlocked Midwestern surf group of the '60s."  For most of their career, the band members were Rich Fifield, Jon "Storm" Patterson, Bob Demmon, Dennis Lindsey, and Jim Gallagher.
