NEWSAGENT'S DESCRIPTION

This listing is for the 1965 first stereo pressing of The Shadow of Your Smile, a smooth and elegant album by bossa nova icon Astrud Gilberto, released on Verve Records (V6-8629) and mastered by legendary recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder.

Known for her airy vocals and understated charm, Gilberto helped bring the bossa nova sound to international audiences following her breakthrough on The Girl from Ipanema just a year earlier.

This album blends Brazilian rhythms with lush jazz arrangements that perfectly enhance her vocals, offering intimate renditions of both standards and lesser-known gems. The title track, originally from the 1965 film The Sandpiper, became a standout moment on the record.

A timeless listen and a must-have for fans of vocal jazz, bossa nova, or 1960s lounge aesthetics.
