Description
ATOMIC ROOSTER – Death Walks Behind You * Stateside TEST/PROMO LP / SP 80186 (Japan, Stereo, 1971)
Very interesting item here for Progressive collectors – what seems to be an original Japanese promo, possibly test copy of Atomic Rooster’s second and, most would consider, best LP. It is a white label copy with the catalogue number printed to one side of the label only. The matrices are MACHINE STAMPED and read as follows:
CAS – 1026A 1S (circular symbol) / CAS – 1026B 1S (circular symbol)
The solid, heavy card sleeve is in great condition. Just a little light storage and handling rubbing to the front and rear and some very light edge scrapes top and bottom but other than these NO creases at all, no splits, no rips or tears and no writing. Hardly any wear to the corners (3 out of 4 are still totally sharp) and the spine is strong, true and flat. NO feathering to the opening edges either and no real evidence of ring impression. So – very carefully looked after for its 40 odd years and worthy of a proper EX (Excellent) grade.
The labels, as stated, are blank except for the rubber stamped cat no. (SP – 80186) and some boxed Japanese letters (see photos). They are in ‘as new’ pristine condition with NO signs of any use. So that’s NO writing, scrapes, stickers, residue or tears. Being white, they are a good indicator as to exactly how much use this record has seen and they shine up beautifully. Superb!
The vinyl is absolutely tip-top. By that I mean I cannot see ANY markings on this WHATSOEVER. NO scratches, no scuffs, no hairlines, no scrapes, no embedded dirt, no dust pockets, no nothing! Visually looks a definite M- (Mint Minus) but in essence this looks brand new. I doubt it has seen more than 2 or 3 plays. IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO from start to finish AND PLAYS BEAUTIFULLY without any audio impediment at all. So, you can expect a quiet listen with NO snap, crackle or pops, no ticks/clicks or hiss and no distortion, groove wear or loss of definition. A truly satisfying listen which should please the most exacting and demanding ears. Terrific!
Presented in an envelope style inner with an anti-static liner, this is a very rare stone mint white label Japanese copy of this classic Atomic Rooster LP. Don’t miss!
No reserve.
