Welcome! Here is a first UK press of Atomic Rooster Death Walks Behind You (B&C Records CAS 1026). On this, the second Rooster album, the lineup was Vincent Crane, John Cann, and Paul Hammond. This is a fabulous example, with a superb cover and pristine vinyl.
Matrix numbers and mother/stamper codes are:
Side 1: CAS 1026 A-1U 2 RR
Side 2: CAS 1026 B-1U 2 GA
Using the Record Collector grading system, what do we have here?
Sleeve: The sleeve grades Excellent. And this is really exceptional for this delicate and unforgiving unlaminated black sleeve. There is only minor general surface wear to the cover, edges, and corners, and some extremely faint surface creases that are hard to see. There is no ringwear at all! And the inside of the gatefold is superb. The sleeve is signed “Printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford.”
Vinyl: In terms of sound and listening quality, the vinyl is easily M-. A few random marks are visible on the vinyl, but they do NOT transfer to the sound. You will not be disappointed!
Labels: Both labels are strong, with only the most minor spindle tracking on both labels. This is another indication that this album has been handled carefully.
Inner Sleeve: This album has an ancient UK plain white inner, but I do not know if this is the original. I believe that the very very VERY first run of this album had a black inner, but this example does not have one.
And, in the end: Despite Carl Palmer’s departure after one album, Death Walks Behind You was a clear improvement for Atomic Rooster. The UK example that I offer here really should suit most buyers. Play it LOUD! Please e-mail me with any questions.
