Original German first pressing of Attila Zoller`s soundtrack for "Katz und Maus", issued on Saba Records (1966).
Originally a Jim Hall protegé, Hungarian-born jazz guitarist Attila Zoller wrote the music for the German movie "Katz und Maus" in 1966. The musical style is somewhat reminiscent of Hall`s "classical cool", with vague underpinnings of free jazz.
Based on the novel by famed German author Günter Grass, the anti-war drama "Katz und Maus" caused something of a scandal at the time, due to its being filmed in the Polish city of Gdansk, once a major port of the Third Reich, as well as the acting involvement by Lars and Peter Brandt, the sons of Berlin mayor (and later German prime minister), Willy Brandt.

GRADING:
EX++ COVER. Fully laminated gatefold sleeve in very fine overall condition. Please see the photos for details.
- Slightly bumped corner with scuffing and a tiny corner tear (about 8mm; at bottom left).
- Small piece of missing laminate (at bottom right).
- Small stretch of scuffing along bottom edge (3 inches long; rear of gatefold cover only).
- Also includes the original, plastic-lined inner sleeve in MINT- condition.
MINT- RECORD in near-perfect condition: Practically pristine with impeccable audio reproduction.
- Two or three lightest hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- Original Saba Records "tree" labels with one or two superficial spindle lines, visible only in bright light.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "599345 A SB 15112 A" and "599345 B SB 15112 B".
- Guaranteed to be an original German first pressing; it is highly doubtful that this record was reprinted anytime in the 60s or 70s.
