Title: Airto Moreira and the Gods Of Jazz – Killer Bees

Original UK-only pressing from 1993 on B&W MUSIC, the record is stored in a heavy cardboard-box, intensive linernotes are written on the back. The box includes 9 record-sized graphics, one for each track,on the back of each graphic there’s a short comment and the line-up of the particular tune. B&W MUSIC is of course a division of the famous B&W Loudspeakers Ltd., whose president R.Trunz produced the record in collaboration with Airto’s wife Flora Purim. Recorded November 1989 at Sound Design, Santa Barbara, California.Mixed May 1993 at Ronnie Scott’s Studios, London. Heavy vinyl, heavy box and 9 graphics make this one a real "heavyweight", wich makes shipping more expensive than usual.

It was Airto’s wish to record an album besides the demands of his daily commercial mainstream studio-work, to play some music with a couple of friends the way he used to do in the late 70ies in the New York loft scene. So he called some of these friends and recorded this album in basically 2 weekend-sessions. So let’s take a look,who these “friends” are:

Line-up: Herbie Hancock/piano & keyboards – Chick Corea/ piano & keyboards – Gary Meek/ten- & sop-sax – Hiram Bullock/guitar – Mark Eagan/electr. & fretless bass – Stanley Clarke/acoustic & electr.bass – A.Moreira/drums,vocals & percussion – Flora Purim/vocals.

Tracks: side 1: Banana Jam (6:02) - Be There (4:41) - Killer Bees (7:35) - See Ya Later (5:33) side 2:City Sushi Man (4:01) - Nevermind (7:43) - Communion (8:36) - Nasty Moves (2:09) - Chicken In The Mind (3:28).

Musically you will find jazz in different colours: the funky side, the fusion-thing, bop, ballads, latin-bits, some rock and more. Of course there are impressive percussions, creating wild to calm and almost mystical atmospheres. Amazing line-up with all musicians beeing in top-form, an audiophile treasure, hard to find because the vinyl-edition was extremely limited !

Condition: the heavy vinyl looks and plays in mint-. The box shows just a hint of slightest shelfwear and is very close to beeing perfect, mint-. All 9 inserts are perfect, mint-.

Grading & Cleaning:

• the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

• after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

• I also visually graded the record under a strong light

• only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg.

• cleaned records are stored in a new deluxe innersleeve and they are placed in a new PVC protection-sleeve !

• alle Platten habe ich professionell gereinigt und akkustisch & optisch bewertet. Kommen mit neuer Außen- & Innenhülle !
