Description
For fans of the Real People and Outsider genre here's Atlanta one-man-band Abner Jay's 1974 effort, "True Story of Dixie," released on his own Brandie Records label (1002). Unlike the other, more blues-based record of his I've heard (Swaunee Water and Cocaine Blues), here he's in much more traditionalist mode, performing old chestnuts such as Dixie, Buffalo Gal, She'll Be Coming Around The Mountain, etc. There's one original ("Man Walked On the Moon") and during St. James Infirmary Blues he tells the hilarious story of his first marriage, his "worst tragedy." I spot-checked the album and it played mint at all spots, no noise whatsoever. There are a couple marks on the vinyl but they don't affect play - let's be safe and say it's in excellent condition. The jacket has wear along the top and side edge and a small seam split (see out third photo), some rubbing so let's call it VG.
