This handsome and extremely rare LP from Cetra (LPS 20, Italian pressing, black/silver label – ED1, stereo, laminated flipback jacket) features violinist Salvatore Accardo and pianist Ludovico Lessona’s brilliant accounts of Beethoven’s Violin Sonatas No. 1 in D Major Op. 12 No. 1 and No. 9 in A Major Op. 47 “Kreutzer”, both made in 1969, recordings that truly deserve to be far better known.
Accardo brings his customary probing musicianship and unfailing technical command to both works, and he is provided supremely eloquent accompaniment by the under-rated Lessona.
Incidentally, there are eloquent liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Massimo Mila, printed in both Italian and English. The striking cover design is uncredited.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is mild shelfwear and faint ringwear, as well as mild discoloration to the rear panel, but really that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings, or other defects and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT), this is a fine copy and playback is superb. However, if you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP – this is a lovely collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
