Adge Cutler & The Wurzels – Carry On Cutler! – 1969 Test Pressing – Side 1

Unusual original EMI/Columbia test pressing relating to the 1969 LP Carry On Cutler!.

The record has a plain white label with the album title, catalogue number, “Stereo”, “Side 1” and the Side 1 track listing handwritten in blue ink.

The XAX matrix prefix indicates a mono master, despite “Stereo” being handwritten on the label.

Run-out details:

XAX 3942-1 / 1 / G – Side 1 of Carry On Cutler!
LPFB 2 – reverse/test side

This is therefore a single album-side test pressing rather than the standard two-sided album pressing.

It comes with the original period sleeves shown. The outer sleeve is handwritten “ADGE CUTLER ‘CARRY ON CUTLER’ SCX636 (TEST PRESSING)”.

The XAX 3942-1 matrix is clearly shown in the photographs. The additional 1 and G markings are also present in the run-out. LPFB 2 is stamped in the reverse run-out but is faint and proved difficult to photograph clearly.

The vinyl has some light surface/handling marks visible under strong light. The sleeves have age-related wear, creasing and tearing, as shown.

An unusual early Adge Cutler / Wurzels pressing. I have been unable to find another example of this particular test pressing for comparison.
