Description
Adrian Rollini & His Orchestra 78 rpm test pressing Mississippi Basin 1933 Parlophone.
Brian Rust's Discography lists this session as recorded in New York on June 12, 1933. The band personel was: Manny Klein, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey, Arthur Rollini, Adrian Rollini, Fulton McGrath, Dick McDonough, Herb Weil and Howard Phillips. That was quite a line-up. Apparently, this side was only issued on British Parlophone R-2515. There is another number (matrix) embossed on the disc, it is 265132-2
The record itself is just a bit less than 11 inches in diameter, the excess was usually trimmed later.
There are no scratches and fortunately this appears to be rarely played. The surface has minor pitting which mostly can't be heard, and the disc plays well. All in all this is a great-sounding and important piece of jazz history.
My grading is "E-".
