Description
So, the story behind this signed record is this. Originally I grew up in Pawtucket, RI and in 1979 I was 20 years old. Since Aerosmith was a Boston band (1 hour away) they would play Providence all the time. I saw them just as this album came out. (This is my third copy and this is a second pressing. I have the first "Walking the Dig" version also.
Anyway, saw them openings up for Mott The Hoople and other bands before they began a string of theater gigs that were amazing. Met Stephen a few times and by 1978 they were a major band. My friend from Boston was on the road crew and gave me a backstage pass (See picture and NO it will NOT be included in this auction!) when the band came to the Providence Civic Center in 1978 . (See ad). Golden Earing (Radar Love) was the openings act.
Well after the show we waited backstage and there was a hang out session with the band. Steve barely remembered me since he was so high and drunk (I guess) but managed to sign it with one hand while drinking beer in the other.
I managed to make my way around the room and get this record signed. Basically it seemed to me that it was a bother to them and they didn't even engage with me. They were too famous and too fucked up to care anymore. I am now 64 and since I have a few signed albums by them including the Walkin the Dig I decided its time to start letting go of this stuff slowly. I will also be posting a signed Kiss, Gregg Album and Richard Betts if anyone is interested in those guys.
Unfortunately in 1978 There was no outer plastic sleeves and we would all rip the shrink off all the records so the fact this survived is still amazing!.
