Description

Blue and silver label, deep groove; Bill Grauer Production, mono. Middle-Eastern music with Johnny Griffin featured on tenor sax. 4 tracks, Griffin plays on 3. Abdul-Malik, oud and bass; Naim Karacand, violin; Jack Ghannaim, kanoon; Mike Hamway, darabeka; Bilal Abdurrahman, duf (tambourine); Al Harewood, drums. Recorded in 1958 Cover: VG+ to mint(-) Intact with a small notch on the insert edge near the corner. Minor aging opn the back cover. Fine gloss finished front cover. Record: VG+ Visually shows little wear but there are considerable brush-like surface rub marks including a small mark on the surface on Side 2. This small mark is the only one that effects the grooves. The other marks mentioned may have been caused by cleaning or handling. There a several clicks from the mark described but the balance of the record has only a few very light clicks, infrequent and most barely audible. There are some clicks that are somewhat more audible. Most of the noise mentioned appears on Track 1, Side2. Audibly checked.
