Collaborating with a variety of artists and musicians allows Akua Naru to bring diverse cultures, languages and experiences together in one work, creating their best album to date. “It was important to invite other people to help tell my story. I wanted to hear other languages and some of my closest friends spoke Sesotho and Swahili and that was of great importance to me. As someone who identifies as Pan-African, it's important to me to incorporate that into my work.” Both Mulatu Astatke, the founder of Ethio-Jazz, and Uganda's eco-artist and vocal powerhouse Sandra Suubi are contributors to this one Album. As does four-time Grammy Award-nominated artist Eric Benét, featured on forthcoming digital single "Made It" (release April 6), Akua Naru's exquisite Visuals accompanying this project - starting with the album artwork by Nigerian/Canadian artist Oluseye, through to the mesmerizing music videos for “My Mother's Daughter” and “Made It”.
