Description

Here is the rarely-seen Janus Records' promotional poster for The Year of the Cat album by Al Stewart, 1976.  This delightful poster was created by Stewart's record label for promotional purposes, and was never offered for public sale.  Measures 24" W X 25" H.

It's a whimsical and fun reminder of a good album that showcases his imaginative story-telling.  I've heard Al say that The Year of the Cat is the story of a man traveling in Morocco who is so captivated by a woman he meets that he misses his ticketed departure; and, then spends a year trying to get home.

It's from my personal collection, and has been in my possession since the late seventies, kept in a tube.  I have never displayed it.  The colors are still bright and lively, and there is no damage to the printed surface. 

While this poster is in very good condition for its 43 years---no tears, no deep wrinkles, no serious blemishes---there are some condition notes: 
  - There is aging and a small discoloration in the white space (visible in several of the photos). 
  - It's delicate. The quality of the paper stock is inferior---typical of promo posters of that era, which were intended for brief display and disposal. The light-weight stock has yellowed, as has the varnish coat. 
  - There is also a bit of dimpling, which you can see in the photos as reflected light. 
  - Please review all photos as they are an integral part of the description.

I expect a good framer can remove the dimpling by dry-mounting the piece before framing, and position it to hide the little flaw.
