Description

Here are some Rock N' Roll live recordings of some doo wop and rock acts from the very early period of the genre. Alan Freed can be heard as the emcee on many of the introductions. The cover does not note where or when the songs were recorded, but one would have to place them between 1954 and 1958 simply based on the time that Alan Freed was on the air at WINS in New York, and the fact that this record is on the WINS label.
Vol. 1 of this set is harder to find than later volumes. Artists included here Chuck Berry, The Moonglows, Alan Freed Band, The Robins, Johnny Burnette Trio, Frankie Lymon, and The Drifters.
